Today was unremarkable, and I have no idea what to post. So here is a picture of me using my cat as a pillow.

Monday is the only day I make it a point to watch TV. I end up watching TV plenty of other nights, but Monday's I don't want to miss Heroes. I love that show. And Chuck isn't too bad either. So after my run today I am on the couch watching TV.

Karyn and I got up before dawn on a Sunday to go watch our friend do the Benbrook Triathlon. She did good, but she's very athletic, so we knew she'd do good. Karyn got lots of awesome action shots with her fancy camera. Before the race, I was crazy nervous and sick, as if I was doing the race. Apparantly I'm used to being a competitor and not a spectator. I'm going to be horribly nervous when I do the tri in August.

Jon is doing a lot of work on his house too. Today we're adding some recessed lights to a hallway, adding an AC smoke detector, adding a switch, and rewiring this switch to be a double pole rather than a single. According to the internet, this is an advanced project. It took all day, and it was a lot of work, but we did it with no problems. I'm glad Jon likes home improvement, too. We discussed today how its so rewarding. We learn usefull skills, have a personalized home, have a sense of accomplishment, and save a lot of money. Where's the downside?

Today was a horrible day, so Jon took me out for ice cream. Cookie-doughn't-you-want-some. Yum. Lifts the spirits. So does Jon. :)

This is my garden. This is the first year I've had a vegetable garden, although I grew some tomatoes in the yard a few years ago, and I have a decent herb garden in containers on my front porch. Because this is my first year with a garden, I'm just seeing what works and what doesn't. I've already had broccoli and radishes and parsley, and it was all good. I also have potatoes, zucchini, peas, beets, carrots, okra, cabbage, corn, tomatoes, garlic, onions, lettuce, spinach, and cucumbers growing.

This is how I spend most of my day, on the computer. I work all day on a computer, and I usually get online a lot at home. At work I think of a lot of things I want to look up, but I have to wait till I come home. I don't think I have a lot of computer skills though. I'm skilled at using the programs I need, but thats about it. And programming classes in college were insanely hard for me.

I gave blood today. I like giving blood. Its an easy way to do something good for people, you just lay there and watch tv while the nurses do their job. Its really hard to find a vein in my arm, but once you get it, I fill up the bag pretty fast. Giving blood also entitles you to eat oreos guilt free.

I got my iPod for my birthday last year from Jon, and it is one of the best gifts ever. It ranks up there with the bicycle and the trip to Space Camp. I don't have much music on it, but I do have the birdJam software and over 900 bird songs. It really helps with the bird song identification.

I also have the Nike Plus chip, and some running songs. The iPod is great for running. You can't walk up a hill to a loud rock song. I like the Nike Plus thing to, it tells me my pace and distance, which is a handy thing to know sometimes. And today when I finished running, Lance Armstrong's voice came on telling me I had finished 250 miles. Wow.

This is my Daddy. He lives in an RV full time, and he's up here for a doctor's appt at the VA. He's pretty handy to have around. He did a lot of work last fall remodeling my kitchen. It looks awesome. He's also built a mantel for the fireplace, replaced the facia boards on the house, and built a new shed in the backyard.

No cooking tonight. Jon and I dressed up and went to dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, just for fun. We had the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, and I had the tomato and mozzarella salad while he had the house salad. For an entree we had filets, sweet potato casserole, and broccoli au gratin. Dessert was berries in sweet cream and chocolate hot fudge cake. It was very good. The steak melted in your mouth, and the service was very classy. Its a lot of fun to dress up and go out someplace fancy every now and then.

We then went home and built a nest in the living room floor and fell asleep watching Star Wars. Fun stuff.

Jon and I are cooking again. Tuesday was stuffed peppers with potatoes au gratin, and tonight is grilled tuna steaks with mango chutney, parslied rice, and grilled summer squash. It came out great. I really liked the mango chutney, which surprised me. Jon and I are pretty good at cooking, and we like to work on our skills. Although some nights we do just open a can of spaghetti sauce.

Jon and I went to the Main Street Arts Festival tonight. I like walking around and looking at all of the art. These sculptures behind me were some of my favorite this year. Photography is usually my favorite, and there were some watercolors on silk that I loved. My favorite medium is trees, and nature. There were some pieces we recongnized from last year. They are priced at several thousand dollars, so its no wonder they aren't moving quickly. Even if I had that much money, I don't know if the art is worth that much.

Hoy fue mi clase de espanol. Me gusta el clase, pero necisito practicar mas. Leo y escribo con no problemas, pero no hablo sin problemas. No se las palabras que necisito. Pero, esta noche estoy practicando.

My cutest body part is my feet. I like my feet. They are very shapely (except for the calluses from running and playing softball). I'm too lazy to keep my toenails painted, but when I do they look like little jewels.

I went for a bike ride through the park today, and it was gorgeous. All the trees have new leaves, there are flowers everywhere, birds singing. There were a lot of people in the park, which made me happy. Tomorrow I'm going to go running there.

Seeing all the birds in the park made me want to go birdwatching. I enjoy doing it, I just don't do it enough. So after the bike ride I watched the birds in my backyard. There's a lot to learn about birds by watching your backyard, even if you see the same birds most of the time. Today I saw Purple Martins, Mourning Doves, Northern Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Grackles.

I am a fan of the running skirt. Its very comfortable. Shorts bunch and ride up, and end up looking very unattractive. There's no bunching with the skirt, and no riding up (it has bike shorts underneath). I also like that it looks cute. I feel more fierce when I know I look cute.

I'm filthy!! This is my ceiling cat impression. I crawled through the attic and installed a new cable hookup in the living room. It wasn't too terribly hot, and not too terribly hard. I'm very excited about my new living room arrangement. I have a lot of attic projects to do...ceiling fans in the three bedrooms, vent fans in the two bathrooms, recessed lights in the kitchen, and a light in my closet. By then I will have torn up the insulation so much that I should probably replace it. An attic ladder would be nice too.
Afterwards Jon and I went with Karyn to take pics of random places around town. We found the oldest brick structure in Tarrant County, and Tandy Hills Park. I'd been to the park before, about 5 years ago. Its a great natural prairie habitat, and has lots of cool hiking trails with wildflowers and grasses.

I am not a night person. Its 10 pm on a Friday and I'm sleepy and ready for bed. I hate staying up late, I get very cranky. I'm much better during the mornings (but not too early).

One of my favorite things that Jon and I do together is cook. We cook a lot, and we're good at it. We like to try new things. Last year we had a dinner party and made a turducken. Tonight we're making corned beef hash. It actually didn't turn out very well, although most of the stuff we cook does.

Anyone who says cats are aloof and unaffectionate has never had a kitty. Archie is excited to see me come home. She usually runs up to the door, then runs to her favorite spot in the living room, flops onto the floor, and rolls over onto her back. I rub her belly, pet and scratch her, and pick her up and cuddle her. She even purrs. Some people may think she is Satan, but she's a very precious kitty.

Yesterday's pic was not very happy, so here's a happy one to balance it out. I'm all snuggled up in my Snuggie. Yes, I have a Snuggie, and it is great. It's warm, comfy, and convenient. Archie also loves the Snuggie, and curls up on it to nap. It is covered in cat hair.

This is me looking disgusted in front of a ladder in my living room. I was trying to be productive and paint the kitchen ceiling, but I am just not feeling it. I'm usually not productive when I come home from work. I don't mind working out, or fixing dinner, or going out to do something, but home improvement projects rarely get done during the week. I'm also annoyed by all the little things that have to get done. Tonight I covered my garden with sheets to protect it from the freeze, and potted a little house plant I got, but I did not fold the laundry, clean the litter box, or shred the receipts and mail on the kitchen table. I hate it when little tasks pile up.

Today is medium bike ride day. On my tri training schedule, I have a short, medium, and long of swim, bike, and run. I'm not doing the swims yet though, because the pool doesn't open until after Memorial Day, and the lake is far too cold. Its only 50 degrees today anyway. I didn't feel like going for a ride, but this is the first week of training, so its a bit early to start slacking off. The wind was crazy. There were a couple of times when I thought if I stopped pedaling, the wind could actually push me backwards. And how is it possible to have a headwind coming and going? Ugh. As Jill says, the wind will make me strong.

Jon and I want to go camping and hiking, so we need gear. We tested out some sleeping bags at Cabela's. I thought a mummy bag would be too claustrophobic, but I actually really like it. I'm a side sleeper, so when I roll over onto my side, the whole bag goes with me. There was too much material bunching up on the rectangular bag, and I don't sprawl out when I sleep. I didn't pick a bag though. Neither did Jon. We also tried on some backpacks, and looked at the rest of the gear. We decided to do some more comparison shopping and to decide exactly what we need.

My favorite day of the week is Off-Friday. I didn't do anything today. I went for a bike ride, layed around, ate some food, watched some TV. Jon and I drove around some campgrounds to scout out the one's we're going to camp at. The only thing about doing nothing days is that there are no good photo ops. So here's my tongue. Its scalloped, which my dentist said was typical of class A personalities.

Jon and I had a breakfast date today before work. :) How sweet. I like spending time with him any time of day, but there is just something special about a breakfast date. We went to Starbucks.

I eat cereal for breakfast nearly every day, and have for as long as I can remember. I love cereal. I don't like the sugary ones, my favorites are Wheaties, Cheerios, Crispix, Corn Flakes, and Rice Krispies. I do like Frosted Mini-Wheats, even though it is sweet. I love milk, too, and drink a lot of it.

Today I signed up for my second triathlon. I'm going to do the Prairie Off Road Tri, which is an open swim/off-road mountain bike sprint tri. Its in 20 weeks, and BeginnerTriathlete.com has a training program that is 20 weeks long. What a coincidence.

Oh, and I hate April Fool's Day. It's stupid. Who's idea was it that playing jokes on people was fun?

Jon and I are rearranging the furniture in my living room. I have a plan for my house, and maybe eventually one day I'll get it done. Tonight we're just testing out a new furniture layout. If it works, I'll need to install a new cable jack on the opposite side of the room.

The new layout works, so I guess its up to the attic.

My friend John is changing a flat tire. I helped him out by giving him a ride to the gas station to air up the tire. I also mowed my lawn for the first time this year. Fun stuff.
