After taking the tax class for several weeks, I finally learned of a new deduction I can take. I already know about the sales taxes, mortgage interest, property taxes, student loan interest, and charitable contributions I can deduct. Now I know that I can deduct the tuition and fees that I'm paying for TCC for my Spanish classes. Horray! Still doesn't amount to much money. I've also learned that a lot of good stuff is phased out at my income level. Boo.
